Pregnancy, a time of joy, celebration, preparation? Well yes for sure it is and then you have the darker days. It’s all valid and part of the unique adventure of motherhood.
.
.
I have a post coming up soon on how aromatherapy and essential oils can support you during you’re journey of pregnancy. .
.
There is quite a lot of crossover between the oils and the challenges they can support. .
.
Roman Chamomille, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Ginger, Black Pepper, Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, Rose, are some oils I will discuss. Each of them supporting common ailments experienced like nausea, tiredness, muscular aches, insomnia anxiety, stress, digestive issues, lack of concentration & forgetfulness...
.
.
I will also address safety concerns and contraindicated oils for pregnancy with sound scientific data to back it up not just my own experiences....such as...’oh I always used it and it was fine’ which I hear a lot.
.
.
Mamas we need as much support around us as possible, use what resources are available to you. We can’t do this alone. This third pregnancy has been the hardest for me, many moments of doubt and the physicality and psychological stresses and strains of already parenting two young children really takes it toll some days. .

Been posting lots of info lately. Time for a pretty picture! .
.
Hyacinthus Orientalis is our oil of the month for April. It is generally used only in professional aromatherapy and not that frequently. It is technically an absolute so not an essential oil as it’s obtained through solvent extraction. So for the purists out there you might want to forego it. .
.
The plant is native to parts of Asia,
Turkey, Syria, Lebanon & Israel. It was introduced to Europe. It flowers early spring and it’s highly fragrant flowers attract insects for pollination. It is often used in the perfume industry. .
.
It is used for emotional burnout, addictions, grief, loss and initiation rites. It has the power to stir some deep emotions. .
.
Make sure to blend with some earthy grounding oils to temper its hypnotic energy.

New to making your own essential oil blends? Not sure when people reference the % dilutions? Worried about keeping Your blends in safe dilution? .
.
.
Check out this handy table, content is from the bible of essential oil safety by Tisserand & young. Save it, pin it, keep it with your oils for handy reference. .

.
Babies & infants 1% and below—facial oils 1%—adults body products 2%—isolated areas to target e.g muscle aches 5%. This is a very approx generic guide you can follow. I often use 5% for my massages blends too. .
.
.
Enjoy your oils with knowledge & responsibility!

Essential oils and aromatherapy have really grown in popularity the last few years. This is fantastic! Seriously when I started my diploma back in 2009, everyone was like you’re studying what??
.
.
As with all good things there are some negatives too. Unfortunately a large number of people are now experts on essential oils and advising some practices which are unsafe. This is worrying and disturbing for their future, if people then start to have adverse reactions they will stop using them. Which would be a huge shame. .
.
I have a blog post coming out soon on safety. For the meantime enjoy these basic guidelines to keep safe. .
.
Follow people like Robert Tisserand who have been working with aromatherapy since the 1970s and really know their stuff. Be careful who you take advise from. What are their credentials? Do they belong to any regulatory bodies? Are they independent? Just some things to consider. More on this later! In the meantime enjoy your oils responsibly! 🌿🌻 #essentialoils #aromatherapy #essentialoilsafety #roberttisserandessentialoilsafety #roberttisserand #oilandwaterdontmix #responsiblearomatherapy #essentialoileducation
